Glucosamine occurs naturally (made by combination of glucose and the amino acid glutamine by the enzyme glucosamine synthetase) and is one of the ‘building blocks’ of cartilage. Glycosaminoglycans and proteoglycans are larger molecules made from glucosamine in combination with proteins such as collagen and elastin. They form the extracellular matrix and the cartilage in joints.

Animal models and in vitro experiments suggest that glucosamine stimulates cartilage production and inhibits degradation by influencing chondrocyte activity. However, limited in vivo studies suggest that very little orally ingested glucosamine reaches the joint.

Researchers think that taking glucosamine supplements may either increase the cartilage and fluid surrounding joints or help prevent breakdown of these substances, or maybe both.

How many tablets does one pack of EL SAMINE tablet contain?
It contains 30 tablets per pack. It is recommended to take 1 or 2 tablets per day.
How long does it take to experience any benefit?
Results vary amongst individuals. There is no maximum length of time over which EL SAMINE tablet may be used. A regular intake is recommended.
